  • 200g White Self-Raising Flour
  • 70g Unsalted Butter
  • 60mL Skim Milk
  • 70mL Golden Syrup
  • 70mL Sugar-Free Maple Syrup
  • 60g Brown Sugar

Method

  1. Prepare the dumpling dough:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and 40g of softened butter until it resembles breadcrumbs.
    • Add the milk, 30mL of golden syrup, and 50mL of maple syrup, stirring until a dough forms.
    • Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
  2. Make the syrup:
    • In a pot, bring 500mL of water to a boil over medium-high heat.
    • Stir in the brown sugar, the remaining golden syrup, maple syrup, and butter, ensuring the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Cook the dumplings:
    • Reduce the heat to a simmer and gently place the dumplings into the pot.
    • Spoon the syrup over the dumplings, cover with a lid, and let them simmer for 15 minutes.
    • The dumplings will puff up, becoming light and fluffy as they cook.
  4. Serve and enjoy:
